"Mrs. O. W. Grafmiller: My Grandfather
Isaac Stout had the Post office at Bethel and when he died my
father, Lon Johnson, took it over and kept it until Rural Free
Delivery system came in. My Great Grandfather James Stout
entered the land where the old store building stands. I have
the government deed signed by President Buchanan." An Added
note on Bethel: When the Post office was in the community it
was known as Stout" [Our Neighborhood, by Dick Green - Muncie Star - Date unknown] |
"Bethel today has several dwellings and
mobil homes, the neat concrete block United Church of Christ, the
now empty Odd Fellows Hall, a two-story brick structure that stands
at the cross roads and one time housed a grocery." [Our Neighborhood, by Dick Greene - Muncie Star, 29 March 1972] |
