"The village of Shideler was founded in 1871, by Isaac Shideler, the original owner of the land upon which it is situated. He was the postmaster and store-keeper in which occupation he still continues [1881]." [S7, p 248]
"About the same tiem [1870] Isaac Shideler, who had been active in promoting the first railroad from Fort Wayne and had then given land for a depot site at the north edge of Hamilton township, revived the town of Shideler, and with the building of a depot the village may be said to have begun.  Mr. Shideler was proprietor of the store and the postmaster at this point."  [S1, p 102]
