Location: Coordinates: 40.2659 -85.2827 (Comparison of [S1] and [S11] ) - - CR 514N, 525E - Sec 16A (c. 1834) - Listed as Sharon - Located at Village of Sharon - "This is a small hamlet, situated in the southwest quarter of section 16 [Delaware Twp]. It has no mercantile establishments, and its inhabitants are engaged chiefly in agricultural pursuits. Joseph Zehner is the postmaster at this point [1881], and Valentine is the blacksmith." - Granville Hastings set up a store in Sharon near Zehner Mill. He was originally from Wayne Co., Indiana. - "Platted in 1849 but lost much of its importance when it was by-passed by the railroad and the community to the south Woodlawn, now Desoto, came into being." |
